This page is currently a placeholder. The Loudwater privacy policy is being prepared with legal review. The final version will be published here before the site goes live. The structure below indicates the sections the policy will cover.
1. Who we are
Loudwater Building Consultancy Ltd is a chartered surveying firm regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Our registered office and contact details are listed in the footer of this site.
For the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, Loudwater is the data controller for any personal data we collect about you.
2. What data we collect
The website collects personal data in two ways:
- Information you provide directly — when you submit our contact form (name, email, phone, company, the situation you describe), email us, or call us.
- Information collected automatically — anonymised analytics about how the site is used (pages visited, broad geography, device type), and cookie data as detailed in our Cookie Policy.
3. How we use it
We use your data to respond to enquiries, deliver instructed work, send service-related communications, comply with our legal and regulatory obligations as a chartered firm, and improve the website.
We don't sell your data. We don't use it for marketing without consent. We don't share it with third parties except where necessary to deliver our service (e.g. specialist consultants we instruct on your behalf, with your knowledge).
4. How long we keep it
Data is retained only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected. Enquiry data not progressed to instruction is deleted within 12 months. Client matter files are retained in line with our regulatory obligations as a RICS firm — typically six years from completion of the matter.
5. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have rights to access, correct, and erase the data we hold about you, to object to processing, and to portability. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in the footer or email us directly.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
6. Sub-processors
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the site and handle communications. These include our hosting provider (Netlify), analytics provider (Google Analytics), and email provider. Each is bound by appropriate data-protection obligations.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage.
8. Contact
For any privacy-related questions, contact us using the details in the footer.
